Are you looking for a salaried route into teacher training?

Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship programmes are a nationally-recognised, work-based route into teaching. It is an alternative to a traditional full-time university course, offering a postgraduate-level qualification, no tuition fees, and the opportunity to earn while you learn.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

The minimum academic qualifications* required for programme are:

Primary

Secondary

Typically 2.2 or higher degree. Typically 2.2 or higher degree in a subject where at least 50% of study is in the National Curriculum subject you intend to teach.
Minimum GCSE grade 4 (previously grade C) in English and mathematics plus science is required. Minimum GCSE grade 4 (previously grade C) in English and mathematics is required.

Those applicants meeting the required standard by taking an equivalence test or by offering other evidence of attainment that intend to undertake the Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship (PGTA) will additionally need functional skills qualifications or equivalent qualifications at level 2 in mathematics and English to meet the apprenticeship gateway entry criteria.

Original certificates for your degree and GCSE subjects or equivalents, will need to be brought with you to the interview or produced as part of our safer recruitment induction arrangements. *If your qualifications were not gained in the UK, you can visit the National Academic Register Centre (NARIC) website to find out whether your qualifications are considered to be equivalent to UK GCSEs and degrees.

Contract Type:
This vacancy is initially for a minimum fixed contract of twelve months and on completion of the apprenticeship training leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Working Pattern:
1,265 hours over 195 days of the year in line with the Statutory Teacher Pay and Conditions Document
Training:
You’ll receive a combination of classroom teaching and off-the-job training as you work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
