My First Week - Holly Woodfin-Smith4 October 2022 (by admin) |
I didn’t know what to expect from my first week....
Walking into a classroom, with a focused learning space for 31 was overwhelming!
Having worked as a teaching assistant for the last 7 years I know how challenging the first week back can be for many children so I empathised with them as I felt like a new person in a new situation to. I also knew it would be different. I was used to working with classes off 16 maximum, the class size here is 31! I’m used to a lot less directed teaching than I knew I was going to be learning about so that is exciting but nerve wracking too.
It’s been lovely to have this week to get to know the children, their interests, characters and certain ways. Spending time building relationships with them. It has also been lovely to have been included in the staff team from day 1, working in my role, involved in training, meetings and day to day running of the school.
I can’t wait to get stuck into the next week of observations, gap tasks and challenges following training this week.
